Respite Care

What is Respite Care?

Respite care is a short-term service that provides temporary relief for caregivers by allowing them to take a break from their usual caregiving duties. It can last from a few hours to several weeks. It can help caregivers feel less overwhelmed, maintain their relationships, and prevent burnout. This doesn't mean you're letting down the person you look after. It can also benefit the person being cared for by providing new people and situations for them to experience.

How dose it work?

Respite can be intergraded with family members to fill gaps when other commitments require your attention. We can step in to help with anything that is required from personal care and medication, to social and wellbeing checks. Respite care can come in many forms. What works best will depend on your circumstances and those of the person you care for.

Types of Respite Care

  • In-Home Respite Care: A professional caregiver comes to the home to provide care, allowing the primary caregiver to take a break.

  • Adult Day Centres: These centres offer care and social activities during the day, providing a change of scenery and social interaction for the individual.

  • Residential Respite Care: Short-term stays in a care facility, such as a nursing home or assisted living facility, offering comprehensive care and support.
